It is my great pleasure conveying this message as Law school dean, at Salale University. The School of Law (SoL) commenced the teaching learning activity in 2011 E.C as one of the departments of the college of Social Science and Humanities. The school became autonomous in the mid 2014 E.C by succeeding from the college of Social Science and Humanities. The SoL runs both Under Graduate (UG) and Post Graduate (PG) programs. The school of Law contains one undergraduate program in Bachelor of Law (LLB) and two post graduate programs, namely: LL.M in Judicial Studies and LL.M in International Trade and Investment Law. In addition to the academic programs hosted within the school structure, the SoL is providing various law courses for students from other streams.
The School of Law is striving diligently to advance the academic and research engagements of the staff and its graduates. Within the short period of its establishment, the academic staffs of the school of Law actively engaged on various thematic research activities related to law, human right, constitution and constitutionalism, and Access to justice. Community engagement is the other pillar of the academic institutions in Ethiopia, where SoL is highly striving to make it reality. To this effect, the SoL has been widely working on Free Legal Aid (FLA) support for vulnerable group of the society among the local communities in its five Free Legal Aid Centers. Local Capacity Building programs through training schemes are the other community engagement system of the SoL where several local community members were addressed.
With all these concerns in mind, the School of Law is diligently working for academic excellence of the existing programs and to launch other related post graduate programs with a due academic quality and standard. Furthermore, the School promptly engages on research and community engagement activities at large scale.
