Background Information

The Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences was established in 2010 E.C and plays a vital role within the College of Health Sciences. It provides a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs aimed at developing skilled professionals in the field. The department offers extensive undergraduate programs designed to prepare competent professionals who can meet the growing healthcare needs. By combining theoretical education with practical training, students are well-prepared to excel in various major laboratory disciplines, including Medical Microbiology, Medical Parasitology, Hematology, Immunohematology, Molecular Biology, and Clinical Chemistry.

The department is committed to fostering a learning environment that emphasizes high-quality education, research, and community service, aligning with the university's mission to improve the health sector and enhance public well-being. Over the past seven years, the department has experienced significant growth and is actively engaged in teaching, research, and community service, thereby playing an essential role in the advancement of healthcare and scientific knowledge. Recently, it has also collaborated with the hospital to offer diagnostic services, further strengthening its impact on healthcare delivery and public health.

  • Produce competent practitioners who can maintain the professional code of ethics.
  • Train competent medical laboratory sciences practitioners to meet the human power needs of various health and health related institutions.
