Background Information

Welcome to the Department of Midwifery. We are committed to advancing maternal and newborn health through quality education, innovative research, and dedicated community service. Our team of skilled academic and technical staff plays a vital role in educating the next generation of midwives. The Department of Midwifery currently has a total of 19 staff members, comprising academic, junior academic, and technical support staff. The department is led by Mr. Adugna Alemu, who serves as the Department Head with the academic rank of Lecturer. Among the academic staff, there are 12 lecturers, including individuals such as Mr. Mukemil Awol, Mr. Tariku Regea (also serving as EDC Director), Ms. Asmera Tulu, Ms. Eleni Tesfaye, and others.

In addition, there are 2 PhD fellows—Mr. Seifu Kebede and Mr. Moges Beya—who are currently pursuing their doctoral studies. There are 2 junior academic staff members, Mr. Samuel Boja and Mrs. Ayda Getahen, both of whom are currently on study leave. The department also includes 2 technical support staff members: Ms. Ayewbizu Beyene, serving as a Technical Assistant II, and Ms. Hawi Tekalign, serving as a Technical Assistant I. This diverse and skilled team contributes significantly to midwifery education, research, and community health initiatives.
