Background

The Department of History and Heritage Management was established in degree program in 2010 E.C. as one of the departments under the College of Social Sciences and Humanities at Salale University, initially with four staff members. A year after its establishment and performed the graduation of its first cohort, the department launched a Master's degree program in History and Heritage Management in 2013 E.C. The department is dedicated to contributing to the sustainable socio-cultural and economic development of the nation through the provision of education tailored to societal needs, undertaking problem-based research on history, archaeology, culture, and heritage issues, and rendering relevant community services and engagements.

The Department of History and Heritage Management is also active in implementing technology transfer projects in the community, working to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application. Through workshops, training sessions, and collaborative projects, the department shares its expertise in areas such as archiving historical documents and training on heritage preservation with local organizations and individuals. In this case the department plays great role to preserve, interpret, and promote local history and culture more effectively.

Currently, the department has a total of 11 staff members, with 8 active staff and 3 on PhD study leave. Regarding staff development, the department boasts an increasing number of staff profiles, including lecturers, PhD holders and candidates, and assistant professors with diversified areas of specialization (history, archaeology, heritage studies, and museum studies).
