Director's Message

The Public Health Education and Service Directorate plays a pivotal role in directing and coordinating academic activities within the Department of Public Health while overseeing and integrating Public Health Services at our hospital. A key focus of our office is to bridge academia and practice by ensuring seamless collaboration between the Department of Public Health and hospital-based Public Health Services.

Through this integration, academic staff will have dual roles—delivering high-quality education at the department and actively contributing to Public Health Services at the hospital. This synergy enhances both teaching excellence and service delivery, fostering a dynamic environment where education and practice reinforce each other for better public health outcomes.


Background

Public Health Education and Services Directorate was established in December, 2024, following the introduction of the new organizational structure of Salale University Comprehensive Specialized Hospital.

Mission
  • To strengthen the synergy between academic training and public health services by coordinating education, research, and practical health interventions, ensuring that academic staff and students contribute meaningfully to hospital-based and community health programs.

Objectives
  • Integration: To facilitate seamless collaboration between the Department of Public Health and hospital-based Public Health Services.
  • Dual Engagement: To enable academic staff to effectively balance teaching, research, and active participation in public health service delivery.
  • Capacity Building: To enhance the competencies of faculty and students through hands-on public health practice and service-learning opportunities.
  • Quality Assurance: To ensure that academic programs align with real-world public health needs and service delivery standards.
  • Community Service: To strengthen the hospital’s public health outreach by leveraging academic expertise for community-based interventions.

Responsibility
  • Academic Coordination: Oversee teaching and research activities in the Department of Public Health.
  • Service Coordination: Direct and monitor public health services provided by the hospital, ensuring alignment with best practices.
  • Faculty & Staff Engagement: Assign and support academic staff in dual roles (teaching and service delivery) while maintaining efficiency.
  • Partnerships: Foster collaborations between the university, hospital, and external public health stakeholders.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Assess the effectiveness of integrated education-service models and recommend improvements.
  • Policy & Strategy: Develop guidelines to institutionalize the linkage between academia and public health practice.
