Background of Executive for Women and Social Affairs

Originally established as the “Women, Children, and Youth Affairs Directorate” at the inception of Salale University, the office has since been restructured and renamed to the “Women and Social Affairs Inclusive Implementation Executive Office” under the University’s newly adopted organizational framework.The Executive Office is dedicated to promoting gender equality, social inclusion, and equitable policy implementation across the University. It plays a critical role in addressing systemic inequalities and fostering an inclusive academic and administrative environment. Its core focus areas include issues related to women, children, HIV/AIDS, disability rights, and economic empowerment.Through its initiatives and advocacy, the office contributes significantly to the University's mission of creating a supportive, inclusive, and socially responsive institution.

Mission
  • to promote gender equality, social inclusion, and equitable opportunities for women, marginalized groups, and all members of the academic community by creating an enabling environment that is free from discrimination.

Roles and Responsibilities of the Executive for Women and Social Affairs
  • Promote gender equality across all levels of the University.
  • Protect the rights of children, with special attention to issues related to daycare services.
  • Ensure the rights and well-being of women and persons with disabilities are upheld and safeguarded.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive workplace for women, children, individuals living with HIV/AIDS, people with disabilities, and economically disadvantaged groups.
  • Address systemic barriers such as sexual harassment and discrimination within the University community.
  • Provide essential services including childcare facilities, counseling, and mentorship programs for women and vulnerable populations..
  • Launch awareness campaigns aimed at challenging and transforming cultural norms that hinder equality and inclusion.
  • Collaborate with NGOs, government bodies, and international partners to mobilize resources and secure funding for inclusive programs and initiatives.
  • Handle and manage complaints related to discrimination, ensuring appropriate measures, accountability, and reparations are enforced.
