It serves as the foundation for all forms of advancement, achievable only when access and equity are ensured.
With this vision, and guided by our motto, "Co-Creating Quality," Salale University was established in 2015 in Fiche town, North Showa Zone, Oromia Region, located 112 kilometers from Addis Ababa. Since its inception, SlU has been steadfastly committed to its three core missions: education, research, and community service. The University began its academic journey with nine undergraduate programs. Today, it offers more than thirty undergraduate programs, and we have finalized preparations to launch postgraduate programs in various fields by 2020. Our region, North Showa, widely known as "Salale" for historical reasons, is uniquely positioned, bordered by two major tributaries of the Nile River—Mogor and Jama—as well as the Nile itself. This area has attracted significant attention from researchers and academics due to its potential mineral resources.

Salale University Hosts Strategic Academic Dialogue on Navigating Ethiopia’s Institutional Pillars, Models of Federalism and Representation Frameworks.
Salale University convened an academic dialogue and policy discussion centered on Ethiopia’s institutional pillars, federalism models and representation frameworks, reaffirming the university’s commitment to advancing scholarly discourse on critical national issues.
The Academic Dialogue was organized by the College of Social Sciences and Humanities in collaboration with the School of Law brought together distinguished scholars, researchers, university top management and key stakeholders to engage in comprehensive discussions on key national governance issues.
The dialogue served as an important platform for intellectual engagement and evidence-based policy discussion, focusing on federalism, constitutional governance, institutional reforms and systems of political representation. Participants explored diverse perspectives on federalism and examined pathways for strengthening democratic institutions, national cohesion and inclusive governance.
As part of the program, scholars presented comprehensive discussion papers and research findings addressing key constitutional and institutional issues. The presentations generated extensive and insightful deliberations among participants with contributors emphasizing the urgent need for sustainable and inclusive policy frameworks capable of effectively responding to Ethiopia’ evolving political and social realities.
In his opening remarks the President of Salale University, Dr. Fayera Dinsa, stressed the strategic role of academic dialogue in shaping the country future and strengthening democratic governance. Furthermore Dr. Fayera Dinsa stated that academic dialogue is instrumental in generating transformative ideas and evidence-based solutions that are crucial for the future of the country, emphasizing that universities carry a national responsibility to promote critical thinking, encourage inclusive dialogue, and contribute scholarly insights that advance institutional development and policy innovation.
Participants also highlighted the significance of sustained academic and policy-oriented discussions in fostering constitutional understanding, enhancing institutional trust, and promoting peaceful democratic processes.
