Welcome to Salale University’s (SlU) Official Website,It is my great honor to serve as the President of Salale University, and I am deeply inspired to work alongside the dedicated and enthusiastic staff of our institution. I firmly believe that education is the most powerful tool to drive national progress and improve lives in all dimensions. It serves as the foundation for all forms of advancement, achievable only when access and equity are ensured.
With this vision, and guided by our motto, "Co-Creating Quality," Salale University was established in 2015 in Fiche town, North Showa Zone, Oromia Region, located 112 kilometers from Addis Ababa. Since its inception, SlU has been steadfastly committed to its three core missions: education, research, and community service. The University began its academic journey with nine undergraduate programs. Today, it offers more than thirty undergraduate programs, and we have finalized preparations to launch postgraduate programs in various fields by 2020. Our region, North Showa, widely known as "Salale" for historical reasons, is uniquely positioned, bordered by two major tributaries of the Nile River—Mogor and Jama—as well as the Nile itself. This area has attracted significant attention from researchers and academics due to its potential mineral resources.

Salale University’s College of Social Sciences and Humanities Holds Internal Research Review Validation Workshop
The College of Social Sciences and Humanities at Salale University, in collaboration with the Institute of Oromo Studies, hosted an Internal Research Review Validation Workshop to assess and strengthen ongoing research projects. The workshop primarily focused on the impact of handicrafts and traditional music on the socio-economic development of the Salale Oromo community.
During the session, two key research papers were presented and peer-reviewed. Mr. Dereje Haile presented a paper titled, “The Role of Handicrafts in Socio-Economic Development: A Focus on the Salale Oromo Community,” while Dr. Wodajo Kassaye presented a study titled, “The Role of Traditional Music in Socio-Economic Development: A Focus on the Salale Oromo Community.”
Delivering the opening remarks, Salale University President Dr. Fayera Dinsa emphasized the importance of conducting high-quality, problem-solving research that addresses pressing societal challenges. He urged researchers to ensure that their studies generate practical solutions, produce meaningful knowledge, and make tangible contributions to community development.
Dr. Fayera further highlighted the critical need for research centered on the culture, history, and traditions of the Salale Oromo community. He noted that such studies are vital for documenting, preserving, and promoting the community’s rich cultural heritage to a global audience.
Throughout the workshop, reviewers and participants critically examined the presentations. The interactive session allowed attendees to raise questions and provide constructive feedback aimed at enhancing the quality, relevance, and overall impact of the studies.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Ketema Joro, Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, reaffirmed the College's commitment to conducting research that tackles a variety of societal issues. He stated that ongoing research efforts will continue to focus on generating actionable knowledge and practical solutions for the community.
Mr. Ketema concluded by expressing his gratitude to the researchers, reviewers, participants, the Institute of Oromo Studies, and all stakeholders whose support and contributions have been instrumental in advancing the university's research initiatives.
