Welcome to Salale University’s (SlU) Official Website,It is my great honor to serve as the President of Salale University, and I am deeply inspired to work alongside the dedicated and enthusiastic staff of our institution. I firmly believe that education is the most powerful tool to drive national progress and improve lives in all dimensions. It serves as the foundation for all forms of advancement, achievable only when access and equity are ensured.
With this vision, and guided by our motto, "Co-Creating Quality," Salale University was established in 2015 in Fiche town, North Showa Zone, Oromia Region, located 112 kilometers from Addis Ababa. Since its inception, SlU has been steadfastly committed to its three core missions: education, research, and community service. The University began its academic journey with nine undergraduate programs. Today, it offers more than thirty undergraduate programs, and we have finalized preparations to launch postgraduate programs in various fields by 2020. Our region, North Showa, widely known as "Salale" for historical reasons, is uniquely positioned, bordered by two major tributaries of the Nile River—Mogor and Jama—as well as the Nile itself. This area has attracted significant attention from researchers and academics due to its potential mineral resources.

The consultative meeting of the Enset Project Consortium was organized by Salale University, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources in collaboration with Arba Minch University, Jimma University and the Federal Technical and Vocational Education and Training Institute (FTVEI).
The meeting brought together researchers, university staff, agricultural experts and other relevant stakeholders to discuss the potential of Enset and ways to promote its sustainable integration into local farming systems.
In his opening remarks Dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr. Belew Bekele, stated that the consortium provides an important platform for consultation, knowledge and experience sharing and joint learning among researchers, university staff, agricultural experts, farmers and other stakeholders.
Dr. Belew emphasized that the objective goes beyond discussing the potential of Enset, noting that particular attention should be given to how its introduction can be carried out responsibly and sustainably within the existing farming systems of North Shewa.
During the session, the scholars presented a research paper focusing on Enset, followed by an extensive discussion and exchange of views and experiences among participants.
Participants and researchers also visited a research field, where they received practical demonstrations on corm preparation, propagation, corm burying and other Enset propagation techniques.
At the closing ceremony, Vice President for Academic and Research Affairs, Dr. Tsegaye Deyou, highlighted the significant role Enset can play in strengthening food security and providing balanced nutrition.
Furthermore, Dr. Tsegaye stated that Salale University will continue to strengthen its research and studies on Enset and contribute to generating knowledge that supports its sustainable production and utilization. He also called on relevant stakeholders to give special attention to collaborative efforts on Enset and provide the necessary support and follow-up to advance research, production and adoption.
