With this vision, and guided by our motto, "Co-Creating Quality," Salale University was established in 2015 in Fiche town, North Showa Zone, Oromia Region, located 112 kilometers from Addis Ababa. Since its inception, SlU has been steadfastly committed to its three core missions: education, research, and community service. The University began its academic journey with nine undergraduate programs. Today, it offers more than thirty undergraduate programs, and we have finalized preparations to launch postgraduate programs in various fields by 2020. Our region, North Showa, widely known as "Salale" for historical reasons, is uniquely positioned, bordered by two major tributaries of the Nile River—Mogor and Jama—as well as the Nile itself. This area has attracted significant attention from researchers and academics due to its potential mineral resources.

Salale University Organized Seminar-Based Training on Irregular Migration and Human Trafficking.
College of Social Sciences and Humanities, in collaboration with the School of Law, organized a two-day seminar-based awareness-raising training on irregular migration and human trafficking for high school teachers from various woredas of the North Shewa Zone.
The training aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of the causes, risks, and socio-legal implications of irregular migration and human trafficking, while strengthening their capacity to raise awareness within their respective schools and communities.
The opening ceremony featured remarks by Mr. Beyisa Taye, Vice Head of the North Shewa Zone Education Office. He highlighted the serious socio-economic challenges posed by irregular migration and human trafficking and underscored the importance of coordinated efforts among relevant stakeholders to prevent and combat these issues in all their forms.
Additionally, Mr. Beyisa stated that teachers who participated in the training emphasized their professional responsibility to help curb irregular migration and human trafficking by promoting awareness of their harmful impacts within schools and the wider community.
The training sessions were delivered by instructors from the College of Social Sciences and Humanities as well as the School of Law, focusing on key issues related to human trafficking.
During the training session, Participants noted that the training significantly enhanced their understanding of irregular migration and human trafficking and reaffirmed their commitment to raising awareness about the associated challenges within their schools.
In his closing remarks Mr. Abel Ketema, Dean of the School of Law, noted that irregular migration and human trafficking inflict severe social, psychological, and economic harm and often result in loss of life. He reaffirmed the commitment to strengthening continued education, support, and monitoring through legal frameworks. Mr. Abel further called on participants to return to their schools equipped with the knowledge gained and to establish student clubs dedicated to raising awareness about the cause and consequences of irregular migration and human trafficking, adding that such training would be provided in a sustainable manner.
At the conclusion of the program, certificates of completion were formally presented to participants in recognition of their active and successful participation in the training.
